Artemis: High Frequency Ultrasound Eye Imaging Scanner

The Artemis is a high-frequency ultrasound eye imaging scanner designed to provide highly detailed cross-sectional images of human eyes for diagnostic and post surgical assessments in the Ophthalmic market. Within the stylish casing, a variety of electro-mechanical systems are controlled by a custom designed software interface. Of particular interest is that the highly precise electromechanical scan head assembly is submerged in fluid during operation.
 
Using patented 3D arc-scanning technology, Artemis provides high resolution images and precision measurement capabilities of the cornea and anterior segments of the human eye.   Key applications include phakic intraocular lens implantation, keratoconus screening, angle closure glaucoma monitoring, LASIK surgery retreatment evaluation and general pathology imaging (e.g. tumors, cysts, foreign bodies, ciliary detachment)
 
This unique device reflects the coordinated efforts of all aspects of the StarFish team.  Major contributions were required by our personnel in electronics and controls, industrial design, mechanical engineering, applications and embedded software, signal processing, digital and analog electronics, user interface design, medical regulatory affairs, and intellectual property.
 
The Artemis is currently manufactured on contract by Scott Phillips Engineering, a member of the StarFish Group of companies.
