The Universal Phantom is part of the AVID™ System - Advanced Verification of Integrated Dose for radiation therapy. The product takes the guesswork out of 3D radiation therapy.

The AVID™ Universal Phantom is a precision device made of tissue-equivalent materials. The phantom is extremely versatile and allows a comprehensive range of IMRT measurements that range from single-point measurements to volumetric acquisitions of dosimetric data.

Key features of the AVID™ Universal Phantom:

  • A modular film cartridge that allows easy loading of film and measurements in axial, coronal, or sagittal orientations
  • Flexible film configurations that allow:
  • Rapid film measurement in a single plane
  • Sampling of a volume with five film planes
  • High-resolution, volumetric measurements with up to twenty-one film planes
  • Proprietary, automated fiducial marking system that uniquely localizes each film within the 3D volume of the phantom using ambient light
  • An ionization chamber insert for precise point-dose measurements
The AVID™ Universal Phantom has been designed so it can be used to verify radiation treatment plans for any area of the body.

StarFish had primary responsibility for the whole design process from initial concepts to manufacturing transfer and is now manufacturing the product on contract.
