QC Technologist – Contract Position

Starfish Engineering is an ISO 13485 certified developer and manufacturer of high technology medical products on contract and in joint ventures. Founded in 1994, Starfish Engineering employees a staff of 28 in Victoria, British Columbia.  Along with their manufacturing team, Starfish has a select team of experts in engineering physics, electronics, software, firmware, mechanical engineering, industrial design and regulatory affairs.

Working as a member of the Quality Assurance group and reporting to the QA/RA Manager, the ideal candidate for this position is able to work independently in a fast paced growing environment.  The candidate knows and applies fundamental technical and quality concepts, following applicable guidelines of the FDA, Health Canada, or other regulatory bodies.   As a member of the QA Team, this position provides quality control and testing service to both the design and manufacturing teams.

Responsiblities:

• Final inspection of product and identification of manufacturing process issues based on product testing results.
• Test prototypes and sub-assemblies against design specifications and participate in design reviews.
• Review quality plans during product development.
• Perform component testing during the vendor qualification stage.
• Work with Product Development to implement and optimize QC tests for final release of all manufactured product and monitor effectiveness.
• Report status of any quality issues during Product Evaluation Meetings.
• Assist in the internal auditing of the Quality Management System (QMS).

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years experience in the QA field.
• ASQ certification
• Familiar with basic test and measurement equipment.
• Computer literate (Microsoft Office)
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
